They say once, when Orpheus was young and had just begun
To play
Blue Trane showed up
Sax in hand
Took the stage

He put his mouth to reed and spewed God
All over the room like a shimmering cloud
No one moved for four hours
Pillars of salt watching God

It would be the only time Orpheus ever saw
The flowers that Trane made
