Melissa Howell

Turning Loose, #50, 2008.
Melissa Howell lives in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, minutes from the home of her partner, Gina, with son, Luke; ninety-pound white lab, Gracie; green-cheeked conure, Cutie; and a slew of coral reef marine life, the names of which only Luke can remember. Technical writer by day, she struggles to keep her sanity in off hours by writing novels, flash fiction, poetry, and an occasional essay. The award she won for an essay during graduate school in 2000 seemed a fluke, and she didnít whole-heartedly embrace her dream since fourth grade to be a writer until she joined Trinity Writerís Workshop in 2006. In addition to mistakenly receiving the award in 2000, she is published in Doorknobs & Bodypaint.
