A Cal student spent every day he could during his first summer in Berkeley driving down to Palo Alto and going to the Stanford football field. He always wore a striped shirt, blew a whistle, and threw out seed for the birds. When time came for the traditional Cal-Berkeley football game, the referee walked onto the field, blew his whistle and was descended on by birds. The game had to be called off.
